As an author/speaker, my schedule can sometimes get a bit hectic so thank you to the Set Free Today blog team for sharing the “Word” during my heavy travels.
Have you ever met an honest-to-goodness difference maker?
Several weeks ago I spoke for a delightful group of individuals—all associated with adoption and foster care. Please visit their site: www.homes4good.org for more information. Talk about difference makers, these folks are the real deal. They selflessly serve on the front-line of God’s army to insure that not one child goes unnoticed. As I stood on the platform and gazed into their warm, and sometimes weary, hearts, I sensed there were several common threads that united each of us.
What were these common threads?
Even with my spiritual stethoscope I’m not a mind-reader so to find out information, I ask questions. My first question for the audience: “How many of you have ever had a broken heart?” Every hand in the room went up. My second question: “How many of you believe God can work through your broken heart to help others?” Again, every hand in the room went up.
The Bible is very clear about the God of all comfort. “Praise be to God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the same comfort we ourselves have received from God” (2 Corinthians 1:3-4).
Difference makers accept God’s grace and love, and allow God to comfort them during their times of heartache. Difference makers invite God to use their past experiences to inspire and comfort others. Difference makers give all glory to God.
What about you? I sense you’re a difference maker in the making so what are you waiting for?
Jan
